I’ve spent twenty-five years building, leading and turning around sales and production organizations in lending — across wholesale, correspondent, TPO, retail and digital, at ten different companies.
The through-line is people. Over that career I’ve hired and managed more than 1,000 account executives and more than 2,000 loan officers. Finding producers, reading them accurately, getting them productive and keeping them is the skill everything else has been built on — you cannot fix an operating problem with a sales floor you can’t staff. It has never been only the sales side either: I’ve run operations organizations as large as 500 direct reports, so I’ve owned both ends of the loan — who sells it and who closes it.
I’ve built a wholesale lending entity from nothing: 120 account executives, 190 support staff, and the compliance and operations infrastructure underneath them. I’ve carried $6B+ in annual volume at Freedom Mortgage and MetLife. I’ve scaled a non-QM shop into an Agency lender, and I’ve taken $7,800 of cost out of every loan at a bank without cutting capacity.
National Mortgage Professional named me to its “40 Under 40” in 2015 and again in 2016, and to its Most Connected Mortgage Professionals list in 2017. Along the way I’ve held senior executive roles at U.S. Bank, EquiFirst, MetLife, Freedom Mortgage, PRMG, The Money Source, Change Wholesale, NMSI, Quontic and RETR.
Today I run Guardrail Operating Advisory, where I do the same work from the outside for a small number of lenders at a time. My interests sit where lending distribution meets data and artificial intelligence — and after twenty-five years, one principle still runs the whole thing: never stop learning, never stop adapting, never stop building.
